Katia Paschou
Creating Singing Experiences
Soprano Katia Paschou, a multifaceted and versatile artistic personality with a restless and creative spirit, developed a wide range of activities in the world of opera from a very early stage, primarily in Greece, but also with highly significant performances abroad. As an artist, she stood out from her very first steps while still a student, performing the title role in Rossini's Cenerentola, a production by the Children's Stage of the Greek National Opera. Immediately after, having obtained her monody diploma under the instruction of John Modinos and supported by an Onassis Foundation scholarship, she continued her studies in New York at the Mannes College of Music.
In 2008, she gave her official solo recital at Carnegie Hall in New York as the winner of the international competition Artists International Presentations, and in 2010 she returned to Greece, continuing her repertoire role studies with the late, internationally acclaimed soprano Jeannette Pilou. Upon her relocation in Greece, driven by her studies in Theater Studies and sharing a vision to bring opera closer to a younger and wider audience, she began her work as a creator of original "opera projects."
This same period also marked her active presence as a leading soloist at the Greek National Opera, performing roles such as Musetta (La Bohème, Puccini), Valencienne (The Merry Widow, Lehár), Adele (Die Fledermaus, Strauss), and Papagena (The Magic Flute, Mozart). She also performed as a soloist with all the major orchestras in Greece and participated in the country's most prominent festivals. Among her most notable appearances was a series of concerts alongside the great, internationally renowned Greek bass—and later her teacher and mentor—Dimitri Kavrakos.
In the last decade Katia Paschou has performed all around Greece showcasing her own creative cultural events such as Pathos, Leto’s Song, The Katia Paschou Project in various prestigious venues. Her performances abroad include leading roles such as Violetta in La Traviata, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, and many concerts in the US, Canada, Spain, Italy, Russia, Albania.
